According to a recent survey, only 21% of MBAs in the country are best suited to be employed.
Indicating towards a decline in employment across management graduates, MBAUniverse.com-MeriTrac Employability Study 2012 has found that the picture is rather gloomy for MBA students.
The study, which covered 2,264 MBAs from 29 cities and 100 B-Schools, reveals that ‘only 21% of graduates are employable’. However, the study has also found that there has been a steady rise in the number of MBA seats in India, which has grown from 94,704 in 2006-07 to 3,52,571 in 2011-12
Though the rise in seats has resulted in a five-year compounded annual growth rate of 30%, their employability rates have declined, says the study.
It further explains that the declining index of employability leaves scope for improvement as organisations hire talent to fill strategic roles and as this is the managerial pool that companies rely on.
Previously, MeriTrac had conducted the study in 2007 and it had then placed employability at 25%.
